In addition to tuition and fees, students are required to purchase books and uniforms. New books average $500 per year; a used book sale is held in the summer. Uniforms cost approximately $300-$400 when first purchased. Some used uniform items are made available for purchase at a reduced cost. Transportation and our lunch program is also an additional fee. Tuition rates for the following school year are set annually in late February by the Board of Directors.

  • Special Seton/DeMatha Tuition Discount

    Families receive a $1000 reduction in tuition if a daughter attends Seton and a son attends DeMatha during the same school year.
  • Sibling Discount

    Families receive a $1000 reduction in tuition if an additional daughter attends Seton during the same school year. If a third child attends Seton during the same school year, the family will receive 50% tuition reduction for the third tuition.
  • Need Based Financial Aid

    In keeping with our mission, our aid is primarily distributed on the basis of financial need, though Seton also offers a broad range of merit scholarships to qualified candidates. There are also additional outside funding sources that can contribute to a students educational journey. (donors, outside organizations, etc.) Please see complete list of resources.
    For returning families, the financial aid link can be located on the resource board in Blackbaud. New students/transfers, the financial aid link can be found in the confirmation email that is sent once the admissions application is completed.

Archdiocese of Washington Tuition Assistance

Elizabeth Seton High School would like to create opportunities for girls in the DC and DMV area looking to attend private school. The Archdiocese of Washington has limited funds to distribute to qualified families who demonstrate financial need. To apply for aid from the Archdiocese, families must submit an application, fee, and copies of federal tax returns.

Forms to apply for Archdiocesan aid will be available for online completion on October 7, 2024 and can be found by visiting here.

The deadline for Archdiocesan financial aid is Monday, December 16, 2024.

Financial aid will not be awarded unless the application is submitted by the deadline. Be mindful however, that Elizabeth Setons deadlines are December 13, 2024.

Elizabeth Seton Assistance

The Seton Financial Aid application opens October 7, 2024. The Seton financial aid application is need based aid provided by Elizabeth Seton High School.  We also encourage you to apply for tuition assistance through the Archdiocese of Washington.   

Both the admissions application and Seton financial aid application close December 13, 2024, please apply early. Financial Aid will not be awarded unless you have applied to Elizabeth Seton. Both  applications; admissions & financial aid have to be  submitted by the deadline. (December 13, 2024)

APPEALS PROCESS

Procedures for awarding aid to families who filed appeal applications due to a change to their family’s financial circumstances: New and current families will be allowed to appeal their financial aid decision after February 1, 2025, if they meet the following criteria. 
 
The applications are reviewed and filtered by the Admissions Director. The applications that are eligible based on these criteria are reviewed further, and award amounts are then decided based upon their request not to exceed the appeals cap amount of $5,000. Eligibility Considerations Appeal applications will only be accepted for families whose financial circumstances have changed, or for families who have experienced a major life event.

These circumstances include, but are not limited to, the following: 
● Reduction of earned income 
● Recent unique medical expenses, not covered by insurance, which impact the ability to pay tuition 
● Loss of untaxed income 
● Separation or divorce of parent or student after TADS (the Archdioceses of Washington tuition assistance application platform) submission 
● Death of parent or spouse after TADS submission

  • ADW-Fitzgerald Program

    The Fitzgerald Program offers tuition assistance to 9th-12th grade students currently enrolled in or applying to a Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic schools.

    The Fitzgerald Award honors students who have proven leadership characteristics that the Catholic Church and Catholic schools wish to foster. Students must demonstrate financial need and show promise as future leaders for our Church and society.

    Flaherty Scholars, known for their exceptional work ethic and resilience, are driven individuals with a commitment to earning a college degree. They not only excel academically, but also make positive contributions to their communities, embodying leadership and a responsibility for shaping their own journey.
    Beyond scholarships, Flaherty Scholars receive vital guidance in various life aspects, including responsibility, self-awareness, lifelong learning, emotional intelligence, self-confidence, interdependence, self-motivation, and self-management skills.
    Scholars for his program are contacted to apply based on the Flaherty foundation program criteria.
  • Knights of Columbus

    The Maryland State Council of the Knights of Columbus sponsors several High School scholarships for its members and for Catholic Students in general. Below is complete information on these scholarships and information regarding eligibility for scholarship awards.

  • Maryland BOOST Program

    Since 2016, the State of Maryland has offered Maryland families with limited incomes access to scholarships through the BOOST (Broadening Options & Opportunities for Students Today) Scholarship Program.
    BOOST gives families of K-12 students the opportunity to select a non-public school for their children if that is the best educational fit for their children’s needs. BOOST puts more options within reach for Maryland families and children, particularly those who are most in need.
    These scholarships have helped about 23,000 students since 2016.

  • Instrumental Scholarships

    Program Summary:
    The Instrumental Department at Elizabeth Seton High School offers scholarships to dedicated instrumentalists. We encourage talented musicians to continue with their musical pursuits while here at Seton by offering them tuition assistance. Scholarships will be awarded to selected freshmen based upon specific factors as outlined in the criteria. Scholarship amounts are up to $1,200.

  • Seton Scholars

    Elizabeth Seton High School is committed to offering qualified students scholarships through our Seton Scholars Program. The program is designed for academically gifted students who demonstrate high academic achievement and exceptional potential. Achievement is determined by the student's academic transcript and High School Placement Test scores.  The top 10% of our applicant pool is considered for this merit based scholarship. Incoming 9th graders who are accepted into the program receive annual tuition credits. Once accepted into the program, all Seton Scholars are placed into one or more academically advanced courses. The Seton Scholars strive to contribute to the Seton community through their service to others and their assistance at school functions. In addition, Seton Scholars contribute through various charitable works. There is no application necessary to be considered for the Scholar’s Program.  Students who qualify for this merit based scholarship will be notified in their acceptance packet February 2025.
  • Black Women Empowerment Scholarship

    This scholarship was created by the Daughters of Charity Ministries to support access to a high quality education for Black students who desire to attend Elizabeth Seton High School. This scholarship specifically supports Black students and families who (a) will benefit from financial assistance and (b) demonstrate strong potential for academic success at Seton. 

    Eligibility requirements: 
    • Students who will be entering their Freshman year of Seton in the fall of 2025 are eligible to apply
    • Enroll to be an Ambassador after second semester, Freshman year
    • Demonstrated financial need (as determined by completion of the TADS financial aid application and supplemental Elizabeth Seton High School financial aid application)
    • Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
    Award

    The scholarship affords a family a 50% tuition discount per year over the course of four years (subsequent-year funding depends on successful completion of the first academic year).

    Application Procedures

    A completed application includes:
    • Completed Elizabeth Seton High School admissions application form
    • Complete TADS Tuition Assistance Application
    • Complete Elizabeth Seton High School Financial Aid application
    • An official middle school transcript reflecting a 7th grade final report card and first quarter of 8th grade
    • Submit a complete scholarship application including an essay.
    • Complete one service activity with the scholar group.
     
    To be considered, please submit a 500 words explaining how you promote diversity and justice in your current school and community, and how you plan to continue to promote diversity and justice at Elizabeth Seton.

    Applications will not be considered if all stages are not complete.

  • Theatre Scholarship

    Program Summary:
    The Theatre Arts Department at Elizabeth Seton High School awards young thespians with a theatre scholarship. Students who wish to be considered for a Theatre Scholarship will perform two monologues of their choice and participate in a brief interview. If chosen, students must participate in the theatre program by taking at least one class per year and/ or participate in both theatre productions (fall play or spring musical). Scholarship amounts are up to $1,500.
