Seton welcomes Christopher Conlon as the New Director of Academic Innovation

Bladensburg, Maryland, August 24, 2023 -- Elizabeth Seton High School is proud to announce the appointment of Christopher Scott Conlon as the Director of Academic Innovation. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades in administration and leadership, Conlon brings a wealth of experience and a passion for enhancing education through innovative approaches.
Christopher Conlon's extensive background in educational leadership and project management positions him as an ideal candidate to lead academic innovation at Elizabeth Seton High School. He has consistently demonstrated a commitment to integrity, diversity, and excellence throughout his career.

At St. Mary's High School in Annapolis, Conlon facilitated cross-campus interactions that enriched the educational experience for all students and fostered connections between teachers and students across different divisions. His leadership exemplified dedication to nurturing a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. As a seasoned educator, Conlon taught Conceptual Physics, Honors, and AP Chemistry courses. His dedication extended beyond the classroom as he coached boys and girls high school swimming teams, achieving an impressive 3rd place in the MIAA 'A' conference.

Conlon's administrative leadership roles include serving as the Interim Principal at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Glen Burnie, where he oversaw the administrative functions of preschool through eighth grade. At St. Anne's School of Annapolis, he excelled as the Assistant Head of School, Director of Program, and Director of Athletics. His accomplishments encompassed implementing International Baccalaureate programs, enhancing building security protocols, and providing administrative oversight for a robust athletic program.

Christopher Conlon's achievements also extended to institutions like Gilman School and Savannah College of Art and Design, where he held positions such as Science Department Chair, Head Coach of Swimming and Diving, and Instructor of Physical Education. Notably, Conlon's coaching prowess led teams to national championships, demonstrating his ability to inspire success both in and out of the classroom.

Conlon earned his Master of Arts in Teaching and Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences from Johns Hopkins University. He holds certifications in MSDE Administrator I & II and educator (Chemistry grades 6-12). Outside of his educational pursuits, Conlon's interests include golf, baking, biking, swimming, and fishing.

About Seton:
 Begun in 1959 in Bladensburg, MD, Elizabeth Seton High School is a girls’ Catholic high school, offering a college preparatory curriculum in grades 9 through 12. Currently Seton offers 13 advanced placement and 24 honors level courses. Seton’s curriculum has further evolved today to include four pre-career Programs that offer students exposure to career fields, both inside and outside the classroom. Each of these academic tracks offer professional mentorship and internship programs.
