Hosted by Girls Inc. DC, STEM in Sports Week offers an exciting blend of athletics and academics, introducing participants to various sports while exploring the connections between science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in each activity. Each day, campers will engage in a new sport and discover the fascinating ways STEM enhances athletic performance. Topics include:
**The role of technological advancements in improving athletes' performance.
**The collection and analysis of sports stats and data.
**The physics of motion and the laws that govern movement in sports.
**The application of angles, aerodynamics, and strategy in gameplay.
In addition to hands-on activities, participants will explore STEM careers in sports, learning how they can be involved in the industry without being athletes themselves. After each lesson, girls will either try the sport themselves or attend a live game for an immersive experience. This camp provides a dynamic educational opportunity filled with hands-on learning, active participation, and a deeper understanding of how STEM drives the world of sports.
